Catherine Ford is a British actress who was born in Bloomsbury. After her father's divorce from her family members, she was brought to maturity by her mother, grandparents, and godparents. As a child she was suffering from an obsessive compulsive disorder, suffering anxiety related to the word association. Ford became interested in acting during her teenage years and enrolled in the National Youth Theatre. She was admitted to Sylvia Young Theatre School but after one week decided she was not a fit. Ford rather applied to the Central School of Speech and Drama, finally winning a place on her fourth attempt. Shaun Dingwall was one of Ford's classmates. The actor would go on to have regular roles in the shows Pete Tyler and Doctor Who. Ford could graduate in 1993. She made her television debut in a 1992 episode of Surgical Spirit. She adopted the title Catherine Tate. Tate was featured in such television shows like The Bill, Men Behaving Badly as well as London Burning. Alongside her usual theatre work, Tate joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2000-2001. Tate began to gain attention because of her stand-up comedic performances in the year 1996.
